Job DescriptionSun Life embraces a hybrid work model that balances in-office collaboration with the flexibility of virtual work. Our team members and leaders are expected to foster connection and teamwork by being present in the office at least 2 days per week.
The OpportunitySoftware engineer will support IT objectives by supporting business processes, systems and clients (under limited supervision), specifically with UI, middleware and system integrations related technologies and applications. This role carries out these responsibilities by providing information technology (IT) support.
How you will contribute- Supports existing applications, monitors systems performance and works based on the impact to the business. May coordinate cross-functional IT departments to resolve issues.
- Uses troubleshooting skills to identify, research and propose solutions to problems and accommodate necessary changes or corrective action, as needed.
- Execute full lifecycle software development.
- Write well designed, testable, efficient code.
- Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility.
- Integrate software components into a fully functional software system.
- Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures.
- Document and maintain software functionality.
- Tailor and deploy software tools, processes and metrics.
- Serve as a subject matter expert.
- Comply with project plans and industry standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 3+ years of total experience developing APIs - .NET (C#) and Python, Java.
- Demonstrates sound technical skills with a strong working knowledge of the client’s business to translate business needs into IT solutions.
- Fast learner who adapts quickly to changing business needs and evolving technology landscapes.
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer science or related field.
- Deep understanding of Azure and AWS, with experience designing cloud-native applications using serverless and containerized architectures.
- Extensive experience with BFF design patterns, API Gateway, and middleware solutions.
- Strong experience with authentication and security using Okta, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and JWT.
- Strong knowledge of Dev Ops, CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (Terraform, ARM templates).
- Extensive experience with monitoring and alerting tools (ELK, Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk).
- Experience working in agile development environments, leading technical discussions, and mentoring junior engineers.
- Extensive knowledge of building REST and Graph
QL APIs. - Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Required to attend additional training as requested/deemed necessary.
Salary:
Salary Range: $79,300 - $119,000. The salary range for this role is nationwide and competitive. Your actual base salary will be determined based on your skills, qualifications, experience, education, and geographic location. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive award based on individual and business performance. We are committed to paying equity and creating a positive work environment.
