Transition Support Assistant
Role: Transition Support Assistant
Location: Tresham College - Wellingborough Campus
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £25,585 and £30,915 per annum (Pro‑Rata) according to experience and qualifications. Includes People’s pension, Retail and Leisure discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, and access to college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week, 37 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Term Time
Right to Work: UK based contract. Must have the right to work in the UK; sponsorship not provided.
About the role- Provide Student Support – Assist with educational, personal and social needs under tutor guidance, ensuring inclusion and safety for all learners.
- Deliver Targeted Interventions – Work with students at risk of becoming NEET, collaborating with curriculum teams and support services to keep them engaged.
- Assist Tutors & Learning Activities – Help prepare resources, monitor progress, maintain discipline, and contribute to EHCPs and support plans.
- Support Curriculum & College Operations – Cover classes when needed, assist with English and maths support, and contribute to efficient college operations.
- Uphold College Standards – Maintain confidentiality, promote safeguarding, equality, and health & safety, and engage in training and development.
- Essential Qualifications – GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English; willingness to undertake initial teacher training.
- Experience with SEND Learners – Minimum six months’ recent experience supporting children/young people with SEND and two years in an educational setting.
- Educational Knowledge & Skills – Understanding of learners' needs, ability to plan and develop activities, and use IT effectively in the classroom.
- Collaborative & Independent Worker – Able to work as part of a team and without constant supervision, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
