Design Engineer / Product Engineer / Application Engineer

The role involves taking bespoke enquiries from the enquiry stage to production, applying technical and design expertise to deliver custom solutions, and coordinating with customers, suppliers, and statutory bodies to meet project specifications.

• Design and process bespoke enquiries from enquiry stage to production.
• Transform standard products into bespoke solutions using technical and design expertise.
• Liaise with customers and suppliers to specify designs and develop bespoke solutions under approvals and statutory requirements.
• Risk‑manage quotations and ensure delivery meets agreed specifications.
• Process customer enquiries for non‑pricelist items across mechanical, electrical, documentation, and testing requirements.
• Track prices and delivery of components with suppliers.
• Review quotations provided with customer orders and ensure technical details align.
• Use 3D CAD – Solidworks or other equivalent packages (Inventor, Catia, Solid Edge, Pro Engineer).
• Establish all project requirements.
• Coordinate documentation and technical specifications of special requirements.
• Collate and generate drawings and documentation to deliver the project.
• Release projects to Project Engineers.
• Support the sales team with technical clarifications of projects, including change requests.
• Apply geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
• Read and interpret complex documentation and engineering drawings.
• Assist in obtaining approvals and permissions required from statutory authorities.
• Work at the office in Wellingborough (08:00‑17:15 Monday‑Thursday; 08:00‑13:00 Friday).

• Experience as a Design Engineer, Product Engineer, Application Engineer, Project Design Engineer, Technical Engineer, or Project Engineer.
• Proficient in 3D CAD – Solidworks or other comparable packages.
• Mechanical engineering qualification: HNC, HND, or Degree.
• Exposure to engineering design, application, or project engineering processes.
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex documentation and engineering drawings.

• Salary package:
  
  £35,000 – £45,000, depending on experience.
• 24 days holiday plus bank holidays.
• 1 birthday Friday off.
• Pension contribution: 5% role.
