Estimator, Construction, Quantity Surveyor

Our client, a well-established contractor delivering refurbishment, retrofit and construction projects across the Midlands, is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their growing commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong estimating background who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to play a key role in securing new business.

Key Responsibilities

• Review tender documentation, specifications and drawings.
• Prepare accurate cost estimates and competitive tender submissions.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Carry out take-offs and quantity measurements.
• Identify project risks, opportunities and value engineering options.
• Liaise with the commercial and operational teams throughout the tender process.
• Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings where required.
• Maintain estimating databases and cost information.
• Ensure submissions are completed accurately and within deadlines.
• Support handovers to the delivery team following successful contract awards.

Requirements

• Previous experience as an Estimator within the construction industry.
• Experience pricing refurbishment, retrofit or social housing projects.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
• Full UK driving licence
• Experience using estimating software.
