Our client, a well-established contractor delivering refurbishment, retrofit and construction projects across the Midlands, is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their growing commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong estimating background who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to play a key role in securing new business.
Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documentation, specifications and drawings.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and competitive tender submissions.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Carry out take-offs and quantity measurements.
- Identify project risks, opportunities and value engineering options.
- Liaise with the commercial and operational teams throughout the tender process.
- Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings where required.
- Maintain estimating databases and cost information.
- Ensure submissions are completed accurately and within deadlines.
- Support handovers to the delivery team following successful contract awards.
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Estimator within the construction industry.
- Experience pricing refurbishment, retrofit or social housing projects.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience using estimating software.
