IT Solutions Engineer

Salary: £38,000 - 48,000 per year

• Strong technical expertise in QAD ERP systems, particularly QAD 2014SE
• Experience with Progress Open Edge databases
• Experience administering Linux environments
• Experience supporting EDI integrations and data mappings
• Ability to work with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions
• Experience with system upgrades, patches, testing, and deployment activities
• Ability to produce technical documentation and support procedures
• Experience supporting business-critical systems in a manufacturing or supply chain environment

• Provide administration, support, maintenance, and enhancement of the QAD 2014SE ERP environment
• Work with business users to gather requirements and deliver scalable ERP solutions
• Support ERP modules including manufacturing, planning, inventory management, purchasing, sales order processing, logistics, and finance interfaces
• Participate in system upgrades, patches, testing, and deployment activities
• Maintain and optimise Progress Open Edge databases
• Perform routine database monitoring, backup management, and disaster recovery activities
  
  Support and maintain EDI transactions with customers, suppliers, and logistics partners
• Troubleshoot EDI communication issues and data mapping errors
• Develop and support system integrations between QAD and external applications
• Administer Linux servers supporting QAD and associated applications
• Monitor system health, performance, security, and capacity
• Identify opportunities to automate manual business processes
• Participate in digital transformation initiatives
• Produce technical documentation, support procedures, and knowledge articles
• Collaborate with IT, operations, and functional teams to improve system utilisation and business performance
• Participate in IT projects from requirements gathering through implementation and support
• Provide technical leadership on ERP-related initiatives
• Support testing, user training, and change management activities
• Coordinate with external consultants and software vendors where required

We are a high volume manufacturer strengthening our IT department with the appointment of an IT Solutions Engineer. This role is based at our facility in Shropshire and focuses on supporting, maintaining, developing, and continuously improving business-critical systems, with a primary focus on the QAD 2014SE ERP platform. We work closely with business stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and external partners to ensure enterprise applications, integrations, and infrastructure support operational excellence across manufacturing and supply chain functions.
