Postal Delivery Driver

Location: Wellington Delivery Office, TA21 8QT

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37:00 hours per week – schedule includes weekends on a rotating basis.

Join Royal Mail as a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) delivering letters and parcels in Wellington, working on your local area with a Royal Mail van.

• Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office
• Deliver post by van and on foot in your local area
• Build relationships with customers
• Work outdoors in all weathers

You’ll deliver more than just mail: exam results, birthday cards, business orders, and moments that matter.

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles per day)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering high volumes of parcels and letters
• Busy, time‑pressured days, especially during peak periods

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs/hills, and lifting or carrying 10 kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self‑motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer‑focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
