Our growing portfolio comprises of solar & battery energy storage (BESS) across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.
Key Responsibilities- Reporting to the Head of Project Delivery, The Site Electrical Engineer is responsible for supervising and managing all electrical engineering activities on-site during the construction and commissioning phases of the project. The role ensures compliance with design specifications, quality standards, safety regulations, and project timelines, while coordinating with contractors, design engineers and Owner’s Engineers, and the contractor commissioning team to achieve successful project delivery.
- Ensure all electrical works comply with local electrical codes, regulations, and international standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, AS).
- Enforce site-specific safety procedures related to electrical hazards; conduct regular safety inspections and monitor compliance.
- Participate in safety training, toolbox talks, and audits for electrical personnel on-site.
- Monitor the safe use of electrical tools, equipment, and temporary power systems.
- Motivate the electrical crew and subcontractors, ensuring efficiency, quality, and adherence to project timelines.
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor performance, ensuring project standards, quality, and deadlines are met.
- Conduct quality control checks and inspections of electrical installations, including but not limited to cable works, equipment assembly, terminations, and system integration.
- Oversee the integration of electrical systems, including PV Arrays, BESS, and grid interconnection, ensuring proper execution.
- Coordinate and support the testing and commissioning of electrical systems (inverters, transformers, switchboards, BESS, protection systems etc).
- Coordinate and witness functional and performance testing to confirm systems meet operational specifications.
- Inspect and monitor delivery, handling, and storage of electrical materials and equipment, ensuring compliance with OEM requirements and project specifications.
- Provide regular updates and progress reports to the Project Manager, highlighting issues, risks, and potential delays.
- Ensure accurate documentation of as-built drawings, schematics, inspection reports, and test results.
- Resolve the electrical issues/defects as they arise on-site, working closely with the Contractor’s and Gentari design and engineering teams to troubleshoot complex problems.
- Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders, including the project manager, subcontractors, Owner’s Engineer, and design consultants.
- Work closely with the commissioning team to ensure smooth transition from construction to operation, including final system checks and documentation.
- Ensure all electrical systems are fully operational and meet project performance standards before final handover.
- Support project progress reporting, claim assessments, and verification of site works for contractor invoices.
- Support audits, contract reviews, and project stage-gate approvals.
- Participate in and facilitate project updates meetings and technical meetings, workshops, and site inspections to monitor progress and address issues. Offer support and guidance to project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
