Infection Control Coordinator

Full‑time Infection Control Coordinator position.
Assist Infection Prevention Director with assigned hospital activities, including educational presentations, consultation to departments on matters of infection control and prevention, surveillance of healthcare‑acquired infections, and organizational compliance with regulatory agency protocols.
Maintain goals and objectives of the Infection Prevention and Control Department, serve as a resource person for any hospital employee or department as requested, and meet weekly with the Infection Prevention Director to review significant surveillance issues. Assist in implementing and maintaining updated reports to comply with The Joint Commission, OSHA, CDC, and other regulatory bodies. Maintain department records of all surveillance reports and review the Infection Control Worklist daily to investigate identified infections.
Enter infection data in the Infection Control Module of MIDAS and/or the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) database. Attend advanced training as applicable to enhance capabilities and maintain the Infection Prevention continuous quality improvement plan. Perform surveillance monitoring, participate in environmental and infection prevention rounds, and submit required reports to the Palm Beach County Health Department.
Provide staff education related to infection prevention and control; support staff with PPE education and needs; implement toolkits developed by UHS and ensure compliance. Monitor and implement improvement plans for National Patient Safety Goals related to Infection Prevention and Control. Assist in pre‑construction IP risk assessments and construction rounds, and in annual IP risk assessments to determine next year’s IP needs.
Evaluate annual IP Plan for successes and improvement areas to aid in developing the following year’s plan, all while working to protect staff, providers, and patients from infectious illnesses and disease.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Microbiology, or related science.
- Nursing licensure in FL (for nursing applicants).
- Minimum of 2 years of hospital experience preferred.
- Required:
Certification in Infection Control (CIC) within 2 years of hire.
