DescriptionThe incumbent will coordinate patient flow, process patients in a timely manner, and maintain knowledge of the practices used within the department, physician practice, or hospital to address patient questions or concerns. The role includes maintaining knowledge of insurance requirements, Baptist Health South Florida (BHSF) pricing, financial assistance options, and overall BHSF Revenue Cycle operations. Responsibilities also include supporting go‑lives and departmental initiatives such as onboarding and training new team members, participating in departmental committees, and championing improvement opportunities.
The position is expected to practice the Baptist Health philosophy of service excellence in providing professional, compassionate, and friendly service to patients of all ages, families, employees, physicians and community members.
Degrees:
- High School, Certificate, GED, Training, or comparable experience
- Internal staff:
Minimum of 1 year Patient Access experience with the ability to independently perform all Level 1 functions. - Meets or exceeds BHSF registration accuracy and productivity standards for at least the most recent 6 months.
- Exceeds departmental KPIs.
- Maintains a positive attitude, is self‑motivated, and encourages others.
- Identified as a team player and cross‑trained in multiple areas/product lines/practices to substitute for all staff positions as needed.
- External staff:
Associate’s Degree preferred with 1 year Patient Access experience, or 2 years experience in lieu of a degree. - Complete and pass the Patient Access training course.
- Ability to work in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Detail oriented, organized, team player, compassionate, and possessing excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Desired:
Knowledge of healthcare regulatory guidelines including HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, Medicare coverage structure and medical necessity compliance guidelines. - Understanding of insurance contracts, collections, authorizations/pre‑certifications, Microsoft Office products and EMR applications.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish or Creole preferred.
