Orthopedic/Medical Assistant – Peds Orthopedics – FT – Days – $2,500 Sign on Bonus – MPG – Wellington
Location: Wellington, Florida
Summary: Under the supervision of a physician, physician assistant or registered nurse, provide patient care to orthopedic patients.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the physician with orthopedic surgical procedures and/or orthopedic procedures.
- Provide education to patients and their families on injuries and the use of casts, splints, crutches and other orthopedic devices.
- Perform routine orthopedic procedures, including fitting, applying and removing casts, splints, bandages, braces, walkers, crutches, traction, pin/suture removal, and assistance with reductions.
- Obtain all results and/or outside images and reports at intake and download into Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Order X‑rays based on the treatment plan by physician documentation.
- Provide wound care and wound‑care education.
- Obtain vitals.
- Maintain stock of orthopedic equipment and supplies.
Competencies: Accountability, patient assessment, customer service, knowledge of disease process, patient and family‑centered care, patient safety, nursing standards, responding to change, standards of behavior.
Education & Certification Requirements: Accredited program (required). BLS American Heart E‑card (BLS AHA ECARD), BLS cert American Heart, BLS Certification Grace, BLS cert Red Cross.
Additional Job Information: Requires critical thinking, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be a graduate of an accredited Registered Orthopedic Technology Program (ROT), Certified Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program, or have six (6) months of patient‑care experience or six (6) months as an orthopedic assistant and/or Medical Assistant.
