About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced podiatrist to join our Health in Justice (HiJ) Musculoskeletal (MSK) team, on a part-time basis, at HMP Five Wells
. This is a category C men’s prison in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.
Role details
The role is 4 sessions per month (total 16 hours a month
).
Salary is between £40,000 - £49,000 pro rota depending on experience. Secure environments are challenging but rewarding for healthcare practitioners. If you are looking to develop your skills, learn something new and work in a different environment, this could be the role for you. You will be supported by a Regional Team Lead and Clinical Lead, so if prison work is new to you, support will be available to help you settle in.
The hours can be worked flexibly around other commitments to support a good work life balance.
As Our Podiatrist, You Will
Provide outstanding evidence-based care, advanced assessment and treatment of patients who may have complex and/or chronic presentation. You will determine clinical diagnosis and treatment, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
Assess and treat a range of conditions including diabetic patients, wound management, MSK pathologies and nail surgery.
Deliver non-judgemental care, build therapeutic relationships and promote professional boundaries. Participate in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in line with policies and procedures.
Inspire excellence in colleagues by proactively managing foot, ankle and lower extremity conditions and motivating the wider team to identify high-risk patients. Forge strong working relationships with the Practice Plus Group healthcare team and the broader Health in Justice Service.
Be responsible for your own caseload and waiting list and work as an autonomous practitioner.

You Will Have
- HCPC registration, with proven post-registration experience of assessing and treating a range of conditions
- Experience in assessing and treating:
- Diabetic patients
- Wound management
- MSK pathologies
- Nail surgery
- Self-motivated with excellent communication and organisational skills
- Evidence of CPD and work within MSK speciality
- A non-judgemental and compassionate approach
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent IT skills in MS Word, Outlook
- Experience with electronic notes systems is desirable
- Up to £49,000 per annum pro rata depending on experience
