Deputy Manager Children's Services is an opportunity to take a key leadership role within a specialist children’s residential setting in Welshpool, Powys. This post supports the Registered Manager and wider management team, with a particular focus on helping young people build independence and transition confidently towards their next step. You’ll combine hands‑on practice oversight with structured leadership, ensuring consistently safe, therapeutic, and outcomes‑led care.

• Leading day‑to‑day practice oversight, coaching staff on routines, boundaries, and therapeutic approaches that support positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Coordinating and improving independence and transition planning for young people (including attending planning meetings and liaising with external professionals as required)
• Providing structured staff supervision, mentoring team leaders/key workers, and supporting induction for new starters to build a stable, confident team culture
• Supporting operational compliance, including record‑keeping standards, audits, and ensuring regulatory reporting is completed accurately and on time
• Participating in out‑of‑hours support/on‑call arrangements and working flexibly (including some evenings/weekends) to meet service needs

• QCF Level 5 in Residential Childcare (or working towards)
• Team leader / senior shift lead experience within children’s residential care or a closely related setting
• Full UK Driving Licence and the ability to work flexibly to support the rota and practice oversight

• £37,874 – £40,955 per annum with a structured, professional leadership remit
• Ongoing training and CPD within a supportive management framework, with clear expectations around safeguarding, best practice, and quality standards
