My client
is an established and growing main contractor delivering high-quality construction projects across the Midlands and surrounding regions. Operating from offices in Welshpool and Wolverhampton, they work across:

Due to continued growth and an expanding pipeline of secured projects, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Design Co-ordinator to strengthen their pre-construction and delivery team.
The RoleThe Design Co-ordinator will play a key role in managing and coordinating the design process from pre-construction through to project completion, ensuring design information is controlled, compliant and aligned with programme and commercial objectives.
You will work closely with Project Managers, Commercial Teams, Consultants and Sub-contractors to ensure smooth design development and issue resolution across a range of live projects.
This role will be split between office and site depending on project requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesManaging the design programme in line with construction schedules
Reviewing drawings and specifications for buildability and compliance
Liaising with architects, consultants and subcontract designers
Managing RFIs and technical queries
Ensuring statutory approvals and building control compliance
Monitoring design risk and contributing to mitigation strategies
Chairing and attending design team meetings
Ensuring information flow between design and site teams
Supporting handover documentation and as-built information
RequirementsThe successful candidate must have:
Previous experience as a Design Co-ordinator or Assistant Design Manager within a main contractor environment
Experience working on commercial, education, local authority or housing projects
Strong understanding of construction processes and sequencing
Experience managing consultant teams
Good technical knowledge of building regulations and compliance
Ability to review drawings for coordination and buildability
Strong communication and organisational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and common document control systems
Experience working on public sector projects
Knowledge of JCT forms of contract
Understanding of BIM processes
