Construction Manager/ Foreman
CALA Homes (NHC) Ltd., which operates throughout the Cambridge and Essex area, is an ambitious house builder with a growing turnover, profit and diversity of location and product. The business is seeking to appoint a Construction Director to join its Board and lead during an exciting period of growth.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the post holder will be responsible for leading the Construction team to deliver large residential developments and ensure each of the Company's developments are effectively and efficiently resourced to maximise value and achieve CALA Homes (NHC) Ltd's objectives.
The postholder will be a member of the Regional Board and will play a full role in delivering the strategic and corporate objectives of the business.
About YouKey Responsibilities & Duties
- Lead the Construction team across the full portfolio of its residential development projects, both in the pre-construction and construction phases
- Delivery of industry leading Health, Safety and Environmental performance
- Ensure that the Construction team deliver the service expected of a 5
* home builder to customers and follow the NHQC procedures - Manage the Construction team to deliver against our customer service approach, to include 8-week period prior to handover to customer service team
- Engage with supply chain to ensure high level support to operational teams
- Devise strategy for the Construction team that fits with CALA'S vision, commercial framework and business plan
- Provide leadership and direction on major projects as determined and agreed with the Managing Director
- Work closely with the Commercial, Sales and Marketing and Technical teams to prepare pre-development and construction programmes as well as resourcing and prelim budgets in line with programme
- Provide clear plans and programmes as part of the budget process to accurately forecast and subsequently deliver against these objectives
- Feed into the land and planning team as acquisition stage to ensure robust plan in place in terms of construction on new projects
- Produce corporate reports for Construction, in line with Board requirements and make positive contributions at board meetings
- The successful candidate must have experience and knowledge in leading and motivating large teams
- A sound understanding of residential construction
- Sound experience of Health, safety and environmental legislation and legal obligations
- Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Self-motivated and the ability to motivate others
- Able to set and deliver against realistic build programmes
- Flexible with regards to daily workload and conflicting priorities
- Exceptional organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
- Able to demonstrate complete confidentiality in dealing with sensitive business issues
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Strategic thinker
- Effective at building relationships
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to drive Health, Safety and Environmental Standards, including the ability to provide innovation
- Demonstrate the ability to manage relationships with our sub-contractor base
- Experience in the residential development or house building sectors in a similar senior role is essential
- Proven experience of leading a large, remote team
- A broader understanding of wider business issues and development needs associated with a £200m turnover business would be advantageous
