Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Welwyn Garden City Up to £40,000 Excellent Benefits

Are you looking to build your career with a leading contractor that genuinely invests in its people? We’re recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a highly respected social housing refurbishment contractor, supporting a busy reactive maintenance contract in Welwyn Garden City. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious QS at the early stages of their career who’s eager to gain hands‑on experience, learn from a supportive team of experts, and progress quickly within the business.

Competitive salary up to £40,000 (depending on experience), clear and structured career progression pathway, ongoing training, mentoring and professional development, and a collaborative and inclusive working environment where your growth matters.

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you’ll support the commercial team in managing the financial and contractual aspects of the reactive maintenance contract. Day-to-day responsibilities will include assisting with valuations, cost reporting and subcontractor management; supporting the preparation of tenders and contract documentation; monitoring budgets and costs to ensure projects remain commercially viable; and building relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal teams.

Ideally some experience in a surveying or commercial role within construction (social housing or maintenance a plus); strong numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail; excellent communication and organisational skills; and eagerness to learn, develop and progress your career in quantity surveying.

If you’re motivated, ambitious, and looking for a long-term career with a contractor that will nurture your development, this role is for you.
