Following a period of sustained growth, the organisation has a clear vision of future development and progression and is looking to recruit an experienced Finance Manager to work with them on their growth journey. You will be joining a successful family-owned business, where you will be working in an extremely collaborative environment, and working alongside a driven and passionate leadership team. Supporting the Managing Director, and mentoring a small team, you will have oversight of all aspects of finance and provide valuable MI and financial insight.

The role will suit someone who is used to working within a SME and used to having a very broad remit. You will be responsible for all aspects of management accounting, financial control and compliance and regulatory reporting. You will keep tight control of cash flow and forecasting, oversee payroll and be responsible for VAT.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential as there will be regular liaison both across the business and with external advisors, including banks, insurance companies, utilities providers, HMRC and external auditors.

This is a superb opportunity for someone who is used to a broad role within a smaller business, where you will "wear many hats". A strong team mentality and work ethic is essential, and you will be working with a really supportive team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the finance team
  • Work closely with the MD and Senior Management Team
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Cash flow management and forecasting
  • Preparation of budgets, forecasts, financial planning & analysis
  • VAT returns and submissions to HMRC
  • Managing Year End processes and liaison with auditors
  • Oversight of company Payroll
  • Managing relationships with banks, insurance companies, service contracts and fleet
  • Management of foreign currency transactions and FX payments
  • Business partnering across the organisation to provide financial insight
  • Continual process and systems improvements

Experience required:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified or qualified by experience
  • Proven experience in a similar Finance Manager/Financial Controller position
  • Strong man management and mentoring skills
  • Management Accounting and budget preparation experience
  • Sound knowledge and experience of cashflow management and working capital
  • Advanced IT skills including Excel
  • Experience with in a stock-based industry highly desirable
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with non-finance teams
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
