Position: Finance Business Partner - Technology (Part- Time)

Technology investments also directly deliver strategic projects across the business plan both in the UK and across the wider retail group. Alongside this investment in new capabilities, technology is also responsible for ongoing operational stability of the business through its day-to-day activities.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Business Partner to join the Technology finance team. You will act as a key Business Partner for the Technology leadership team helping support the Group’s Technology function to optimise investments through interactions and touchpoints across the business, working at the heart of new propositions throughout the Tesco Group. You will help to ensuring a robust understanding of the financial implications of the activities being delivered on the performance of the Group, operating in an environment where scale and resilience are crucial.

This broad ranging finance role will suit a proactive finance professional with the ability to interact with, and influence, senior stakeholders and has experience in delivering change.

Responsibilities
  • Working with Technology Leadership team and FP&A to drive value through an integrated Strategic and Annual plan. Supporting prioritisation reviews, key bottom up planning and assumptions and alignment of capital and operational spend
  • Act as a financial advisor to technology leaders, providing insights into how technology can drive business value
  • Continuing to evaluate how we financially manage technology across the business to ensure this remains best in class considering the pace of change within technology, including evaluating, challenging, and reporting on overall value creation of the total technology portfolio
  • Communicating financial insights and technology investment outcomes to senior executives from Finance and Technology
  • Driving the financial management of the overall portfolio of investments across a portfolio comprising a significant number of individual investment projects spanning multiple delivery programmes and priorities. This includes understanding & leading the business in the management of key metrics including capitalisation rates and allocation of resource between projects and operations/support through a balanced portfolio
  • Reviewing and challenging business cases for Technology investments, ensuring the incremental spend in Technology to save money elsewhere in the business is appropriately identified
  • Working effectively with Control and FP&A to deliver insightful Management Accounts and Director Packs for the leadership to ensure good controls of their areas with detailed risks and opportunities.
  • Delivering ad hoc financial modelling and analysis to support innovation and business decision making, working with Control & FP&A. Facilitating Technology Approvals Group to manage Capital and Operational investment across the Group and UK, and working with Investment Committee to ensure processes are joined up
  • Identifying & delivering efficiency savings across the cost base and promoting cost consciousness culture.
  • Drive improvements and simplification of processes and finance operating model, working with finance teams across the end to end capital life cycle.
Qualifications
  • Accountancy qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong data interpretation and analysis skills alongside commercial savviness
  • Experience with Capex analysis and project-based financial assessments
  • Ability to drive the finance agenda and work effectively with senior colleagues
