Team Leader – Food, Health & Safety

We are seeking an experienced Team Leader – Food, Health & Safety to provide temporary cover within the Public Realm team. The successful candidate will lead on food safety and health and safety functions, ensuring statutory compliance and high professional standards in line with current legislation and guidance.

• Lead and manage food safety and health and safety functions within the Public Realm service.
• Act as a Lead Officer in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice.
• Undertake complex specialist and technical Environmental Health work.
• Make independent professional decisions on a regular basis, recognising personal limits and when to seek support.
• Provide expert advice and guidance to officers and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and codes of practice.
• Diploma, BSc or MSc in Environmental Health.
• EHRB Certificate of Registration.
• Competency as a Lead Officer in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice.
• Substantial experience in one or more Environmental Health specialisms.
• Proven track record in Food Safety and Health and Safety enforcement.
• Demonstrable ability to carry out complex technical work independently without supervision.
• Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Experience working within a local authority setting
