People Data sits at the heart of Tesco’s colleague strategy—enabling trusted, high‑quality data to power decision‑making, regulatory reporting, and colleague experiences.
The People Data Reporting Platform (PDRP) and associated data products deliver critical capabilities including:
- Regulatory reporting (e.g., CSRD)
- Workforce insights (Headcount, DE&I, Absence, Compliance)
- Data products such as dashboards, analytics and forecasting
- Foundational capabilities including data quality, governance, access controls and ingestion frameworks.
Lead Technical Programme Manager – People Data
This role is accountable for the end‑to‑end delivery, governance and integrity of the People Data portfolio, ensuring programmes are aligned to business priorities, regulatory requirements and enterprise data standards.
You will operate across a complex, multi‑programme landscape (PDRP, Workforce dashboards, Compliance, Data Quality, and platform capabilities), bringing clarity, structure and pace to ambiguous and interdependent delivery challenges.
A key focus is driving clear data ownership, governance and accountability across business and technology, ensuring that data products are trusted, scalable and audit‑ready.
Responsibilities- Deliver complex programmes with multiple business and technical risks that influence key business priorities.
- Line‑manage a team to deliver associated outcomes and develop talent within the TPM community.
- Establish or improve delivery methodology to achieve programme goals.
- Initiate and shape programmes with ambiguous scope and uncertain delivery approach.
- Create and track a plan to deliver programme goals, including the technical implementation plan.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on programme delivery (mentoring other TPMs and supporting Engineering/Product teams).
- Understand trade‑offs in software delivery, using experience and influencing skills to drive consensus with Engineering and Product teams to obtain the best value and solution.
- Anticipate potential risks and issues, establish a process, facilitate discussion and manage escalations.
- A proven record of accomplishment in delivering complex, cross‑functional data or platform technology programmes across multiple teams and geographies.
- Strong experience in compliance, regulatory, reporting or data and analytics type programmes.
- Experience building credible relationships and influencing senior management and leadership teams.
- Experience in and a passion for people management.
- Strong project, stakeholder and programme management skills.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, particularly in translating technical complexity into business outcomes.
