Cloud Engineer - Python

The Cloud team is powering every AWS account in the company, with direct contact to customers (other engineers in the company) . As a member of the Cloud Service team (Cirrus) you will be part of the team that is responsible for provisioning all AWS accounts used in Ocado, managing user access to all accounts as well as defining and deploying baseline configuration and security tooling to all accounts. You will be working alongside development and infrastructure teams to design, deliver, automate and operate the platform which hosts our business critical applications.

As a member of the Cloud Service team (Cirrus) you will be part of the team that is responsible for provisioning all AWS accounts used in Ocado, managing user access to all accounts as well as defining and deploying baseline configuration and security tooling to all accounts. You will be working alongside development and infrastructure teams to design, deliver, automate and operate the platform which hosts our business critical applications.

In the role you will:

-Develop applications and scripts aiming at further automating our processes and services

Develop automated tests for existing processes & applications

Write, test & deploy new API-driven features to facilitate automation

Analyse the state of our AWS-hosted resources across a portfolio of +100 accounts

Research & evaluate new AWS features as they are released

Stay current with software development on Cloud Technologies, including emerging trends, best practices and popular related third-party solutions.

Investigate & troubleshoot issues working alongside and on behalf of a wide range of engineering teams Support production systems outside of standard working hours and participating in 24x7 on-call rota.

What we are looking for We are looking for an experienced Python developer who either has experience with AWS and related infrastructure. Demonstrable experience as a Python software engineer working on applications’ development, automation and automated testing.

Strong software development principles and best practices, architecture, design patterns, etc Demonstrable knowledge of automated testing strategies

Experience of Public Cloud technologies (AWS).Knowledge of build and deployment mechanisms and continuous delivery methods.

Understanding of Web Application architectures.

Proficiency in English (both verbal and written).It would be a bonus if you have experience with any of the below technologies, but do not feel hesitant to apply if you don’t.

Experience with the Django framework.

Keen advocate of measuring performance and trends (ie. Golden Signals) and use these to drive continuous improvement

Configuration management tools. Linux system administration.

Internet technologies (DNS, TCP, load balancing, etc).Appreciation of security, reliability, scalability and availability requirements.
