Job Description & How to Apply Below

As a Strategic Analytics Data Partner in People Data & Analytics, you will play a key role in helping Tesco understand the workforce choices that matter most.

You will work closely with People and business leaders to turn complex questions into clear insight, identifying the drivers behind performance and shaping practical recommendations that support better decisions.

This is more than a reporting role. You will connect evidence across workforce, operational and business measures, test hypotheses, highlight risks and opportunities, and tell a clear story about what the data means, why it matters and what should happen next.

1. Strategic people analytics and decision support

Partner with leaders to understand the decision they need to make, the outcome they want to achieve and the key questions the analysis needs to answer.

Lead diagnostic, predictive and scenario-based analysis to explain workforce trends, assess future risks and evaluate options.

Bring together people, operational and financial measures to build a rounded view of organisational performance and colleague outcomes.

Clearly separate fact, assumption and interpretation, making uncertainty, limitations and alternative explanations visible.

Translate insight into prioritised, practical recommendations with clear ownership, success measures and review points.

2. Data storytelling and senior stakeholder influence

Create clear, audience-led narratives that connect the business question, evidence, implication, choice and action.

Identify the most material story in the data rather than giving equal weight to every measure or producing data-heavy commentary.

Use concise visuals and simple language to make complex analysis easy to understand while maintaining analytical integrity.

Tailor insight for executive, functional and operational audiences while maintaining one trusted evidence base.

Confidently communicate the "so what", the risk of inaction and the decision required, responding constructively to challenge.

3. Stakeholder partnership and consultancy

Build a strong understanding of Tesco's business strategy, operating context, workforce priorities and external pressures.

Act as a trusted partner and constructive challenger, reframing reporting requests into sharper analytical questions and decision needs.

Advise stakeholders on what the available evidence can and cannot answer, and where further context or research is needed.

Shape the people analytics agenda by proactively identifying emerging themes, blind spots and opportunities.

Create alignment across stakeholder groups and help convert insight into coordinated action.

4. Analytics product and portfolio leadership

Shape reusable analytical products that support recurring strategic decisions and reduce reliance on one-off manual reporting.

Define product outcomes, users, adoption measures and value, using these to prioritise investment and continuous improvement.

Ensure dashboards and self-service tools provide trusted evidence and focus users on insight, decisions and action.

Work with data science, engineering and technology teams to turn analytical needs into scalable solutions.

Review and retire low-value outputs, redirecting capacity towards higher-impact analytics and decision support.

5. Advanced analytics, experimentation and AI

Apply appropriate analytical methods, including segmentation, driver analysis, forecasting, scenario modelling and sensitivity testing.

Use automation and AI to improve exploration, insight generation and communication, while retaining validation, transparency and human judgement.

Design analytical tests and experiments that strengthen understanding of interventions and outcomes.

Identify opportunities to move from retrospective analysis towards early warning, prediction and prescriptive decision support.

Explain methods, assumptions and model limitations in clear, business-friendly language.

6. Data quality, governance and analytical integrity

Ensure analysis is based on clear definitions, robust validation, proportionate controls and transparent methodology.

Assess whether data quality issues could materially change the story, recommendation or level of confidence.

Protect sensitive people data through appropriate access, privacy, aggregation and disclosure controls.

Document assumptions, exclusions and analytical choices so findings are repeatable, explainable and open to challenge.

Work with data owners and governance teams to resolve root causes and improve the value, trust and usability of…
