Software Development Engineer II – Full Stack (UI Focused)

We are building a next‑generation, dynamic, scalable, and resilient fulfilment platform for Tesco. The platform, Fulfilment Point System (FPS), enables customer order fulfilment centres across geographies to pick, marshal, and dispatch orders while managing site workflow through real‑time visualisation and intervention tools.

We’re looking for a Full Stack Developer (SDE2) with a strong focus on UI development and complementary backend skills. This mid‑level individual contributor role will develop robust, scalable, and efficient UI applications to optimise warehouse operations and drive operational success.

• Build rich, responsive user interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React).
• Implement and ship end‑to‑end stories, primarily focused on frontend with some backend integration.
• Take ownership of medium‑sized features and participate in their design and delivery.
• Work closely with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to understand problems and propose solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to peer reviews to raise the team’s quality bar.
• Help onboard junior engineers and share knowledge across the team.
• Apply best practices and contribute to improving development processes and standards.

• Previous product development experience using agile methodologies.
• Hands‑on experience building and supporting reliable, operationally robust full‑stack and distributed Java applications/products.
• Experience contributing in globally distributed software engineering teams.
• Experience designing and developing UI components and integrating with backend services.
• Exposure to agile methodologies and Dev Ops practices.
• Ability to support and collaborate with other engineers.

• Frontend:
  JavaScript/Type Script, React, HTML/CSS, RESTful APIs.
• Backend (Basic):
  Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, Postgre
  
  SQL, Couchbase.
• Dev Ops: CI/CD pipelines (Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub Actions), Docker, Kubernetes.
• Cloud:
  Azure.
• Practices: TDD, clean code, automation, performance optimisation.
