Software Development Engineer

• Develop and maintain core features of the Therapeutic Molecule Registration platform
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices serving molecular data to research and machine learning teams
• Write high-quality, testable code for chemical registration workflows
• Contribute to technical design discussions and help harmonise multiple registration systems
• Design cloud-native systems that support rapid iteration between computational molecule design and experimental validation
• Partner with Computational Sciences, machine learning for drug development, and Drug Discovery groups including Antibody Engineering
• Collaborate with scientists and grow expertise in chemical and biological data management

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent expertise through practice
• Strong Python programming skills with significant experience building and running production services
• Ability to work confidently in existing Java or Kotlin codebases
• Deep working knowledge of Postgres and SQL
• Experience designing REST APIs and microservices that hold up under load
• Strong track record in test automation, CI/CD pipelines, and agile delivery
• Experience building on cloud platforms, preferably AWS
• Curiosity about scientific data and willingness to learn the domain
• Preferred: open-source cheminformatics experience with RDKit, chemfp, Indigo, or the HELM toolkit
• Preferred: experience with chemical database cartridges, structure canonicalisation, or molecular structure searching
• Preferred: familiarity with chemical and biological structure notation or biological sequence alignment
• Preferred:
  Docker, Kubernetes, event-driven architectures, or scientific software development background

Demonstrates expertise in developing and maintaining cloud-native systems, RESTful APIs, and microservices for molecular data management. Proficient in Python, SQL, and test automation within agile environments, with a strong focus on collaboration with scientific teams.
