The Kelly Group are looking for a detail-oriented and organised Payroll Assistant to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of payroll and contractor payments, as well as ensuring employee expense claims are reviewed and processed in line with company policies.

The successful candidate will play an important role within the Payroll team, helping to maintain payroll accuracy, provide excellent service to employees and contractors, and support business continuity by assisting with wider payroll and onboarding activities when required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the processing of fortnightly PAYE payrolls for approximately 150 employees.
  • Ensure payroll data is accurately entered, validated, and processed within required timescales.
  • Maintain payroll records and assist with resolving payroll-related queries.
  • Experience of I-Trent payroll software would be advantageous, although full training can be provided.
  • Manage the fortnightly CIS contractor payment processes.
  • Download earnings and deductions reports from the company's workforce management system.
  • Review and validate payment information before submitting details to the contractor payroll provider.
  • Process contractor invoices and ensure they are correctly loaded onto the IFS Accounts Ledger.
  • Assist with payment processing through Autopay and Bankline systems.
  • Review employee expense and business mileage claims submitted through the Expense On Demand system.
  • Verify claims are supported by appropriate receipts and documentation.
  • Ensure all claims comply with company expense policies and guidelines.
  • Authorise valid claims for payment.
  • Provide support across the wider Payroll function during periods of annual leave, sickness absence, or increased workload.
  • Assist with additional payroll runs and related administrative activities.
  • Support employee onboarding processes and payroll setup for new starters.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll processes and procedures.
Previous

Skills and Experience:
  • Previous experience working within a payroll or finance administration environment.
  • Knowledge of PAYE payroll processing.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across the business.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
