Please Note, this role will:

* Provide cover for the Stores Roster. If required this will include unsociable hours

* Provide cover for the Stores Driver and Aylesbury Storeman as required.

Purpose of the role
To support the engineering function through the effective management and control of material, tooling, equipment and keys.

Key Accountabilities
The Stores Assistant is responsible for:

* The issuing of stock and control of tooling & equipment to qualified engineering staff.

* The booking in and storage of material delivered.

* Unloading and loading of delivery vehicles using both the forklift and the crane where required.

* Filing of all paperwork for ordering and receipting of material purchased, ensuring accurate records are kept and maintained in accordance with Data Protection.

* Maintaining and building on our good relationships with our internal customers and external suppliers

* Processing the return of warranty material to the relevant suppliers if required.

* General tidiness of storage at Aylesbury Depot and any other location they may be required to work at.

* Stock checking all warehouses listed above on a regular basis for accuracy of stock on hand

* Look for continuous improvement of the Depot and outstations stores

* Provide cover for the Stores Roster if required.

* Provide cover for the Stores Driver and Wembley Storeman as required.

Within the wider Chiltern Railways team, the Stores Assistant will be required to work with key colleagues including:

* The Production Team, the Engineering Support Team, the Planning Team, the Warranty Engineer, Stores Technicians, the Plant & Buildings Team, the Materials Buyer and the Expeditor.

* Interface with Drivers’ training team

* Interface with Finance team.

In addition, the Stores Assistant will:

* Ensure compliance with relevant department standards and procedures

* Undertake other relevant duties as directed by the Stores Supervisor and the Stores & Logistics Manager
