Our PCV Drivers are responsible for providing a professional driving service that supports our clients and service users. In addition to delivering safe home‑to‑school transport, you may also operate the passenger lift and assist the Passenger Assistant with service users as required.
Department: PCV (Bus) Driver
Location: Wembley
Compensation: £16.36 / hour
Key Responsibilities- Operate the vehicle safely, adhering to local road restrictions and speed limits. Report any fines or tickets to the office promptly.
- Ensure mandatory vehicle checks are undertaken each time the vehicle is used to a road‑acceptable standard, reporting any defects to the office.
- Ensure all passengers and wheelchair users are secured correctly with the required safety equipment.
- Maintain adequate fuel for journeys, refueling as instructed.
- Keep the vehicle clean inside and out, at least weekly.
- Remove and replace seating as required.
- Park the vehicle in the depot accurately, using pre‑allocated bays when possible.
- Operate the passenger lift and other equipment to assist passengers in entering and exiting safely.
- Communicate with passengers and clients in a patient, informative manner.
- Assist the Passenger Assistant with duties as required.
- Sound understanding of working with individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to deliver the service with a patient and level‑headed attitude.
- Hold a full unrestricted D driving licence (auto restrictions acceptable) with no more than 3 penalty points.
- Hold a CPC qualification card, with mandatory training kept up to date.
- Minimum of two years’ experience driving a bus or coach.
- Hold or be willing to apply for a DVLA Digital Tachograph driver’s card.
- Willing to undertake and satisfy a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
- Hold a current and valid D4 medical examination report.
- Contracts are 30 hours per week, worked on a split‑shift basis covering AM and PM transport.
- Term‑time only; rolled‑up holiday pay entitlement is 12.07% of gross pay on completed work. Paid monthly; no additional annual leave during school term weeks.
- Salaries are pro‑rata; payment every month of the year (even in non‑working periods).
