Travel Surgical Technologist

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist for a hospital surgery department position requiring National Certification and current Washington State Surgical Technologist licensure.

• BLS certification required
• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology
• Current Washington State Surgical Technologist license required if applicable
• National Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists required

• Day/evening shift, 3x12 hour shifts, 36 hours per week

• Function as a vital member of the OR team, assuming responsibility for the scrub position during surgical interventions
• Maintain a safe environment through technical and aseptic practices according to AORN standards and facility policies
• Demonstrate proficiency in surgical procedures across a variety of services
• Set up and maintain the sterile field and assist team members as needed
• Demonstrate proper use of instruments, suture, and stapling devices
• Follow appropriate procedures for obtaining, returning, cleaning, and disposing of equipment
• Prepare for procedures according to surgeon preference cards
• Report and recognize faulty equipment or unsafe conditions
• Accurately perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts at appropriate times
• Save and properly identify specimens according to department policy
• Demonstrate the ability to handle emergency situations
