Job OverviewTemporary Washington State Park Aide positions are available throughout the Wenatchee Valley Area:
Daroga, Lake Wenatchee, Lincoln Rock and Wenatchee Confluence State Parks. Positions typically begin in March, April, May or June and last 4-8 months. Part-time work (40 hours a week or less) may be offered for specific periods.
- People who like to get outside and enjoy nature, do physical work, and contribute to a truly important mission – maintaining a fantastic Parks system for everyone.
- Individuals who are interested in a longer-term career with State Parks. Many permanent staff, including executive team members, started as Park Aides.
- Students looking for summer work.
- Active retirees wanting work that keeps them moving and doing good in the world.
- Temporary positions are eligible for vacation and sick leave.
- Holiday pay may be available depending on schedule.
- Great teammates who care about their work.
- Learning and refining practical and transferable job skills.
- Being in nature benefits physical and mental well-being.
- Wildlife sightings from chipmunks to orcas.
- Weekend work is expected; evening shifts may be required.
- Busy on spring and summer holidays; time off around holidays not guaranteed.
- Bathroom cleaning is a regular task.
- Work is physically moderate: walking, raking, lifting, etc.
- Less physical work positions may exist for certain parks.
- Maintain park facilities through routine maintenance and janitorial services.
- Perform grounds maintenance: cut grass, weed beds, prune shrubs, rake leaves, gather litter.
- Maintain park lawns using mower, weed‑eater, trimmer.
- Provide park information to visitors and answer phones.
- Register campers, collect, sort, count revenue, prepare bank transmittals.
- Perform daily garbage collection.
- Clean restrooms and supply cleaning materials.
- Clean rental properties and perform housekeeping: wash windows, scrub floors, mop, sweep.
- Drive light trucks or other state vehicles to transport supplies and equipment; haul garbage.
- Minimum age 17.
- Valid (unrestricted) driver’s license. If out of state, proof must be shown at interview.
- Bilingual (Spanish language preferred).
- Learn and interpret park rules, local history, and educate visitors.
- Manage multiple projects with organization and communication.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment.
- Perform general building maintenance.
- Perform janitorial services with chemicals.
- Perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Work in all weather conditions.
- Work Saturday, Sunday, and holidays.
- Learn equipment servicing and maintenance.
All non-permanent Park Aides are required to wear a uniform. Uniform provided: 2 shirts, 1 baseball cap, and a $75 clothing stipend per calendar year (up to $150 for positions longer than usual).
