Job Overview

A Retail Associate at Ross Stores, Inc. ensures customers have a positive shopping experience through friendly interaction, proper merchandising, and adherence to company standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Make eye contact, smile, and greet all customers in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Assist customers with merchandise, answer questions, and handle cash, check, charge card, and refund transactions accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and presentable store environment, perform daily stocking, cleaning, and sizing tasks.
  • Follow safety protocols, report unsafe conditions, and support loss prevention measures.
  • Support brand representation and uphold Ross’s dress code and professional appearance.
  • Handle customer service calls, issue resolution, and communicate with store leadership as needed.
  • Expedite new merchandise receipts to the sales floor and maintain merchandise presentation standards.
  • Adhere to Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock (MOS) policies and other company procedures.
  • Perform other tasks as requested to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor and report safety concerns.

  • Carry out cleaning and maintenance tasks to uphold store standards.
  • Follow all financial transaction policies and ensure accurate cash handling.

Qualifications
  • Effective communication with customers, associates, and leadership.
  • Basic mathematical calculation ability common to retail environments.
Physical Requirements
  • Use of store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
  • Stand, walk, and move around the store full time.
  • Regular bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, carrying, reaching, and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting of more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment.
  • Any specific state requirements as per role.
