About the role

The Data Center Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and peak performance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems within the data center facility. The role ensures stable environmental conditions that support seamless data center operations. Technicians work outdoors in all weather conditions, and must be self‑motivated, proactive, and effective team players. In addition to HVAC maintenance, technicians may be assigned other duties as needed.

Responsibilities

HVAC Equipment Cleaning
  • Perform comprehensive cleaning of HVAC systems, including air handling units, ductwork, filters, coils, fans, and condensers.
  • Utilize industry‑standard cleaning techniques, tools, and materials to effectively remove dust, debris, and contaminants, optimizing system performance and efficiency.
Filter Replacement
  • Replace air filters according to scheduled maintenance plans to maintain optimal air quality and system functionality.
  • Keep detailed records of filter replacements and manage an inventory of spare filters to ensure timely replacements.
Condenser and Coil Maintenance
  • Inspect and clean condenser coils to improve air conditioning efficiency and prevent performance degradation.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on evaporator and condenser coils to mitigate issues related to dirt accumulation and airflow obstruction.
Ventilation System Maintenance
  • Maintain and clean ventilation components, including ductwork and exhaust systems, to ensure unimpeded airflow.
  • Regularly inspect ventilation systems to prevent obstructions and optimize temperature control and air circulation.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate logs of HVAC maintenance activities, including schedules, tasks performed, and system inspections.
  • Generate detailed reports to track HVAC equipment status, maintenance history, and compliance with operational protocols.
Collaboration and Support
  • Work closely with data center operations teams to align HVAC maintenance efforts with environmental and operational requirements.
  • Assist with HVAC system installations, upgrades, and related infrastructure projects to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
Safety and Compliance
  • Follow all safety protocols and best practices, including the proper handling of HVAC equipment and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Foster a culture of safety within the data center environment by promptly identifying and reporting any potential hazards or safety concerns.
Essential Functions
  • Interface with technology and operate digital tools.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.
  • Physical fitness to perform tasks that may involve lifting, moving, and reaching HVAC equipment.
  • Ability to stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy loads of 50 lb. or more.
  • Adhere to company information security policies and standards.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction.
Minimum Qualifications and Competencies
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools.
  • High School Diploma.
