LINK TRANSIT IS HIRING A VEHICLE MAINTENANCE SERVICE WORKER!

Pay Range: $24.02 - $30.00 per hour (hiring wage is within the first three steps of the range $24.02 - $25.24).

This position will work Saturday and Sunday with two consecutive days off during the week. Weekday and hours will be 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM; weekend hours will be 1:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

  • A valid Washington Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. (DRIVING RECORDS WILL BE CHECKED. Offers will be rescinded if you have more than one moving violation or any at-fault accidents in the last 3 years)
  • Have any combination equivalent to graduation from high school diploma/GED.

This full‑time position cleans, fuels, services, washes, details and maintains transit vehicles in safe and proper working condition for public transportation services (aka cleaning and fueling buses for our guests). Must have the ability to obtain a CDL (Link Transit will assist the successful candidates in this requirement including training and testing). This position is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing.

Successfully passing a pre‑employment DOT drug test including marijuana is required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Perform visual and physical check of each vehicle to identify damage and special cleaning or repair needs; prepare required forms according to established procedures.

Clean the interior of mass transit vehicles including buses, trolleys, vans, trucks, and automobiles to ensure that coaches are ready for service at beginning of morning shift; pick up trash and litter; vacuum, sweep and mop floors, polish fixtures; wash windows; detail vehicles as assigned.

Replace interior seat cushions and seat backs as needed; repair and steam clean upholstery as assigned; replace air freshners, decals and light bulbs.

Fuel vehicles including buses, vans, trucks, and automobiles with diesel, gasoline or propane fuel as appropriate; check water, oil and coolant levels and add fluids as needed.

Operate mass transit vehicles including buses, vans, trucks, and automobiles in non‑revenue service directly related to fueling, washing, cleaning, servicing, and maintenance activities. Recharge electric vehicles.

Clean vehicle exteriors according to established schedules and special needs; wash vehicles using steam cleaners and pressure washer; clean and polish tires and rims; replace light bulbs.

Maintain records related to vehicle damage and repair needs, fuel usage, vehicle washing and cleaning, supply orders and other data.

Steam clean engines and frames of vehicles; install and repair traction devices; check bike racks and replace straps.

OTHER DUTIES

Install snow chains during winter months.

Collect fare boxes and store according to established procedures.

Maintain work and shop areas in a clean and orderly condition.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and some janitorial or light mechanic experience.
