Staff RN - Labor and Delivery

We are seeking a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN or Delivery Room RN) to provide comprehensive care to mothers and newborns before, during, and immediately after childbirth. The RN will monitor vital signs, administer medications, assist with deliveries, perform clinical tasks, ensure patient safety, educate families, and coordinate closely with the healthcare team to respond to both routine and emergency situations.

This position is on a per‑diem (PD/PRN) basis.

Knapp Medical Center, Weslaco, TX | Facility: 227 beds, Level III Trauma Center, Level II Newborn Nursery.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN provides direct patient care within the scope of practice, directs and guides patient/family teaching, and manages activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the Birthplace. The RN responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or patient response, provides a safe environment for patients and visitors, and uses the chain of command when necessary to ensure the well‑being of newborns and mothers during the antepartum and postpartum periods.

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
• BLS certification within 30 days and maintained.
• ACLS certification within 90 days and maintained.
• NRP certification within 90 days and maintained.
• Basic Fetal Monitoring within 60 days of hire and maintained.
• AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate within 12 months.
• AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certificate preferred.
• STABLE certification preferred.
