Overview

Retail Store Management Trainee

Pay: $14.50 to $18.50 per hour

This role is designed for external retail assistant managers and store managers interested in fast-tracking into a Store Management position. This role requires a minimum of 1 year retail management experience.

Our retail sales associates can earn up to 8% on transactions, which could average an additional $3.79 per hour on top of your hourly rate.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Store Manager Trainee with a minimum of 6+ months of Store Management experience. A Store Manager Trainee is responsible for day-to-day store operations and fostering a positive, productive environment. This role partners with the Store Manager to lead and develop store employees, recruit and retain top talent, maximize financial goals, and manage Customer Relations / Customer Satisfaction.

This position helps set a customer-centric tone for the store.

In collaboration with the Store Manager, this role analyzes store financial statements to meet financial goals. It requires commitment to asset protection, business promotion, and acquiring new customers. Employees work with jewelry and general merchandise, including tools, electronics, firearms (in FFL locations), and more.

This position offers an hourly wage plus commission and performance bonuses. The actual pay depends on location, qualifications, and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate a customer-centric environment by engaging customers professionally and addressing issues promptly.
  • Monitor and assist in training Pawnbrokers to meet First Cash standards.
  • Recruit top talent through company-prescribed channels.
  • Open and close the store, manage cash drawers and merchandise, and follow procedures to protect assets.
  • Protect assets through inventory control, safety procedures, documentation, and securing loans.
  • Administer store processes including inventory, loan management, merchandising, store systems, and reporting.
  • Evaluate financial statements and drive profitability through communication and goal-setting.
  • Ensure operating standards meet or exceed First Cash standards.
  • Monitor loan qualification and buying processes to maintain value and integrity of loans.
  • Complete assigned tasks and training for self-development.
  • Communicate with employees to align with store mission and profit objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date on product knowledge.
  • The Assistant Store Manager acts as manager on duty in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
  • Must be willing and able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be willing and able to perform duties for extended periods (standing, stooping, walking, climbing, etc.) in compliance with laws.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise others.
  • Ability to work with firearms and become firearms certified.
  • May be asked to assist customers outside the building or access exterior storage.
  • Minimum Age: 18 years old.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work at multiple locations as needed.
  • Flexible retail schedule including weekends and holidays.
  • Store Manager Trainee will work 45+ hours per week; hours are not guaranteed.
  • Computer literate and able to operate POS systems and office machines.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment; detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Analytical skills; cash handling experience required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent work ethic and strong business sense.

Commission Plan Information

The employee commission incentive plan is proprietary. Store Manager Trainees have the potential to earn 2-8% commission based on personal gross profit. Details provided during the interview process.
