We are seeking a Behavior-Focused Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join an all-male behavior group home, focusing on residents with developmental disabilities, behavioral support needs, and total care requirements.
This demanding role requires unwavering professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of residents through specialized crisis management techniques.
Core Mission:Safety, Support, and Behavioral Management
Your primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and quality of life for residents, integrating daily living assistance with expert behavioral support.
- Behavioral Expertise: Apply Professional Crisis Management (PCM) techniques for prevention, de-escalation, and safe management of behavioral incidents.
- Physical Intervention: Conduct safe and approved PCM physical restraints when necessary to protect residents and staff during minimum to moderate episodes involving aggression or self-injurious actions.
- Daily Living Assistance: Provide total care and support for daily living tasks, including personal hygiene, grooming, medication administration, and meal preparation.
- Documentation & Planning: Observe, accurately document, and report resident behaviors, mood changes, and significant events, ensuring proper implementation of residents' individualized support plans.
- Mobility Support: Assist residents with mobility needs, including safe lifting, transferring, and repositioning.
- Behavioral Training: Ability and willingness to immediately become PCM certified and proficiently utilize all required crisis management and physical intervention strategies.
- Compassion & Observation: Possess strong behavioral observation skills, patience, and a respectful, compassionate approach to working with individuals with challenging needs.
- Physical Capability: Must be physically capable of safely performing lifts, transfers, and PCM interventions/restraint procedures
. - Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience: Prior experience in a behavioral group home, developmental disability services, or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Logistics: Valid driver's license may be required.
You will be required to attend all necessary training, including PCM certification
