Job SummaryAssists with operational and distribution responsibilities related to Pharmacy Technician functions, including use of Orlando Health software and hardware systems.
Essential Functions- Demonstrates an understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
- Shows understanding of the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals, customer service, and objectives of the Pharmacy and Orlando Health.
- Familiarity with general duties and processes of the Pharmacy department.
- Identifies and utilizes resources and departments for customer service and patient care based on need, availability, and responsibility.
- Operates equipment required for pharmacy procedures in line with operating instructions, safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Performs basic Pharmacy Technician procedures per assigned area consistent with scientific principles and policies.
- Handles drug procurement duties for the department per policy.
- Assists pharmacist in medication distribution, maintaining aseptic techniques (incl. chemotherapy admixture) and operating automated dispensing cabinets.
- Maintains USP 797 standards and other regulatory documentation.
- Ensures safe handling, disposal, and controlled substance vault, inventory and documentation.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
- Participates in training new technicians and verifies competency as needed.
- Maintains advanced expertise and covers specialized practice areas such as medication history, controlled substance inventory.
- Maintains punctual attendance per Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and legal standards.
- Complies with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Attends in‑services/meetings as required.
- Engages in professional development and continuing education; completes all mandatory Orlando Health education.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensure / Certification- Current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy.
- Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPht) certificate from a nationally recognized program (e.g., PTCB, ICPT). Maintenance of certification required.
Two (2) years of experience as a pharmacy technician.
