It offers 9 advanced operating rooms, including a hybrid OR with real‑time imaging, and comprehensive services in cardiology, neurology, oncology, surgery, and more.
Job SummaryAssists with operational and distribution responsibilities related to Pharmacy Technician functions, including the use of Orlando Health software and hardware systems.
Essential Functions- Demonstrates an understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals, customer service, and objectives of the Pharmacy and Orlando Health.
- Familiarity with the general duties and processes of the Pharmacy department.
- Identifies and utilizes resources and departments for customer service and patient care, based upon need, availability, and responsibility of resources.
- Operates the equipment required for pharmacy procedures, in line with operating instructions, safety regulations, and policy and procedures.
- Performs the basic Pharmacy Technician procedures required by the assigned area consistent with scientific principles, policy, and procedures.
- Performs the basic buyer procedures, including drug procurement, in line with departmental principles and Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Accurately assists the Pharmacist in all duties pertaining to medication distribution, including proper aseptic techniques for admixture (e.g., chemotherapy) and performing tasks associated with automated dispensing cabinets.
- Maintains USP 797 standards and other regulatory required documentation.
- Maintains safe handling and proper disposal requirements.
- Maintains the controlled substance vault and perpetual inventory and other documentation files as required by the department.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
- Participates in training new pharmacy technicians and may verify final competency as needed.
- Maintains advanced expertise and covers technician services in a specialized practice area (e.g., medication history acquisition‑controlled substance inventory management).
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Attends in‑services/meetings as required.
- Assumes responsibility for professional development and continuing education.
- Completes all Orlando Health mandatory education.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensure / Certification- Current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy.
- Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPht) certificate from a nationally recognized program (e.g., Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, Institute of Pharmacy Technicians). Maintenance of certification is required.
Two (2) years of experience as a pharmacy technician.
