Primary Responsibilities for a CNA
- Following care assignments to assist residents with bathing, toileting, grooming, feeding, and transferring, in accordance with care plans.
- Monitoring and maintaining resident comfort and safety, including skin care, catheter care, and turning or repositioning residents.
- Responding promptly to call lights and resident requests.
- Maintaining resident rooms and personal belongings.
- Observing and reporting changes in residents' health or behavior.
- Providing emotional support and maintaining confidentiality.
- Documenting care and monitoring vital signs and intake/output as assigned.
- Adhering to safety, infection control, and sanitation protocols.
- Performing additional duties as assigned by nursing staff.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED (or working under a student permit)
- State-certified CNA in good standing; 120-day work allowance for transferring or student CNAs awaiting certification
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Understanding of safe nursing practices within the state
- Interpersonal skills, including:
- Assisting nurses with procedures
- Following instructions and making independent decisions
- Dealing tactfully with residents and families
- Working harmoniously with staff
- Prioritizing tasks effectively
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA and compliance standards
- Patience, enthusiasm, and professionalism
