The facility opens with 102 beds and may expand to 300 beds at full build‑out. It houses nine advanced operating rooms, including a hybrid OR with real‑time imaging, and provides comprehensive services in cardiology, neurology, oncology, surgery, and more.
Job SummaryThe Clinical Assistant Nurse Manager (CANM) leads shift operations within the clinical setting, ensuring delivery of high‑quality care, exceptional customer experience, and optimal patient flow. In partnership with the Department Nursing Operations Manager and the Assistant Nursing Operations Manager (ANOM), the CANM provides guidance, fosters collaboration, and oversees the unit’s clinical operations—including patient care assignments, productivity, and quality outcomes.
Essential Functions- Serve as an exemplar of the mission, vision, and values of Orlando Health.
- Participate in the shared leadership structure.
- Manage staffing assignments for incoming and outgoing shifts based on patient acuity and team skill sets.
- Coordinate patient flow by working with Administrative Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and Discharge Planners to achieve expected outcomes.
- Monitor overall patient status within area of responsibility, especially for seriously ill patients.
- Ensure delivery of patient care in compliance with physician orders and established policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
- Serve as a resource supporting frontline team members and providers as appropriate.
- Support clinical collaboration focusing on expected patient length of stay.
- Perform direct patient care activities as required to meet operational needs.
- Interface with patients and families to enhance customer experience through Nurse Leader rounds and resolution of complaints.
- Participate in and/or lead safety huddles.
- Embrace, communicate, and promote change and problem‑solving.
- Assess equipment needs and ensure staff can appropriately utilize equipment.
- Support and sustain all leader‑driven initiatives.
- Assist with retention strategies that foster a “best place to work” environment.
- Maintain a regulatory‑ready environment of care.
- Ensure appropriate allocation and adjustment of staff, assignment of meal breaks, and relief of team members as indicated.
- Utilize effective fiscal management skills and financial resources in decision‑making.
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and applicable standards.
- Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Support strategic imperatives by attending leadership huddles, assisting in new nursing/clinical initiatives, and fostering multidisciplinary partnerships.
- Serve as a coach and mentor for the nursing team.
- Express ideas clearly and effectively in verbal and written communication to team members and groups.
- Foster diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Promote a safe working environment; support coordination of follow‑up related to workplace violence occurrences.
- Support the Professional Practice Model.
- Demonstrate superior clinical and critical‑thinking skills for the assigned unit/department.
- Act as a clinical expert and liaison ensuring care is congruent with Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Participate in the collection of unit/department information via audits to identify opportunities for improvement and trends.
- Promote high‑quality nursing practice supported by evidence‑based practice, research, organization, and national standards.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) preferred.
Licensure & Certification- Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Certification in area of expertise preferred.
- May require one or more of the following certifications based on the assigned patient population:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
A minimum of one year of experience as a registered nurse in an acute‑care setting preferred.
