Under the supervision of the Dean of Creative, Arts, Design and Media, teach courses in the Photography program. Related duties include participation in department meetings, department functions, curriculum development, staff development, lab maintenance, student advising, and other duties as assigned.
- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching‑related activities.
- Manage the classroom/laboratory.
- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
- Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
- Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
- Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area. Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
- Support student organizations and activities.
- Develop relationships with business and industry.
- Complete program evaluation and follow‑up.
- Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Must have an Associate degree in Photography, Graphic Arts, or Visual Communication.
Occupational Experience RequirementsMust have a minimum of five (5) years experience or the part‑time equivalent (10,000 hours) of work experience as a Photographer in at least one of the following occupational titles:
Photojournalist, Commercial Photographer, Portrait Photographer, Industrial Photographer, Biomedical Photographer, Audio Visual Photographer, Editorial Magazine Photographer.
- Studio lighting to include strobe and tungsten lighting.
- Compositional skills.
- Photographic reproduction techniques.
- Photographic processing operations to include color and B/W materials.
- Digital original photography.
- Digital photographic editing of still and video.
- Video capture with digital SLR camera.
In addition, one of the following must be met:
- At least one of the five years must have occurred within the last 5 years as a Photographer in one of the following occupations:
Photojournalist, Commercial Photographer, Portrait Photographer, Industrial Photographer, Biomedical Photographer, Audio Visual Photographer, or Editorial Magazine Photographer. - Two years teaching Photography coursework at post‑secondary level within the last 5 years.
