Under the Supervision of the Associate Dean or designee, to teach Mathematics courses and other related courses as assigned. May require teaching courses at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and online during the day, evening, and/or weekend. Related duties include participation in department and advisory meetings, department and college functions, course and curriculum development in both traditional and non-traditional formats.
CharacteristicDuties and Responsibilities
- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
- Manage the classroom/laboratory.
- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
- Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
- Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
- Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
- Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
- Support student organizations and activities.
- Develop relationships with business and industry.
- Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
- Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Only those who meet all of the base minimum requirements listed below will be considered.
Educational requirements: Must have ONE of the following:
- Master's degree in Mathematics or Math Education, OR;
- Master's degree with at least 18 graduate level credits in Mathematics, Math Education, or a subfield.
• If teaching MATH 211, 231, 232, 233, or 234, must have 8 credits in calculus, as well as 9 graduate credits in mathematics.
Preferred Qualifications In ADDITION to the Minimums Listed Above:
- Verifiable occupational work experience in a field other than education.
- Experience in teaching and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments including in-person and online.
- Must be able to develop and maintain curriculum currency.
- Bilingual Spanish/English fluency (must be able to read, write and speak fluently in both languages).

- Experience with or willingness to learn the following supportive technologies:
- Online Information Management Systems – e.g., Self Service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters
- Blackboard Ultra – Experience with Blackboard Ultra or other web‑based course management systems
- Technology‑based Instruction – Experience with technology‑based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players…
