Event Staff/ Venue Crew, Event Manager / Planner
Position Description
Under the general supervision of the Milwaukee Mile Track Services Manager, this role is responsible for track safety services at events hosted at the Milwaukee Mile. This includes preparing equipment, responding to emergencies, and maintaining safety during racing events.
Employment TypeUnclassified, Limited Term Employment (LTE) position. Works an average of 2 to 5 racing events between April and October each year. Annual hours will not exceed 1,039.
CompensationHourly rate: $16.00.
Essential Functions- Assist in preparing the racetrack, including moving equipment and blocks into place.
- Assist in preparing safety trucks and equipment pre-race.
- Respond to emergencies as dispatched during race events.
- Clean up spills and debris on the racetrack.
- Extinguish fires.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to use a radio, listen and respond to dispatch.
- Proficient in the use of power tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must be able to sit, stand, talk, hear and use hands for manipulative tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion, unassisted.
- State of Wisconsin EMS license or firefighter experience is recommended.
Prior to appointment, the candidate will be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check. Candidates must be comfortable wearing a fire suit weighing approximately 10 lbs for extended periods of time, in all weather conditions. This role is subject to potentially hazardous conditions, including outside environmental conditions, high noise levels and fast-moving objects.
