Equipment Operator; 3rd Shift

The City of West Allis is now hiring a 3rd Equipment Operator to join our dedicated Public Works team!

What You'll do

• Operate a variety of equipment and machinery, including:
  • Trucks and tandem vehicles
  • Large rubber-tired end loaders
  • Street sweepers
  • Snow blowers for front-end loaders
  • Dickey-John salt spreading systems
  • Refuse and recycling packers
• Assist with snow removal operations, including the application of salt and sand
• Perform routine manual labor related to:
  • Equipment operation
  • Construction, maintenance, and service activities
• Maintain accurate work records and compile related reports
• Tolerate various weather and working conditions, including: temperature extremes, exposure to odors, noise, and dust

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2-3 years of recent experience operating front-end loaders
• Ability to learn and operate specialized municipal equipment, such as:
  • Street sweepers
  • Snow removal equipment
• Valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B or C with air brakes
• Ability to obtain a Tanker (N) endorsement within 12 months of hire
• Maintains a good driving record in accordance with City of West Allis policy
