Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Plans, coordinates, and assigns daily work for crew after receiving/interpreting orders from a General Foreperson/Line Clearance Supervisor.
  • Conduct field training/retraining, instructing crew on new or revised job units.
  • Enforce safe work practices and conduct safety training in accordance with company policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Discuss with property owner/customer(s) issues such as obtaining access, power interruption, work to be done, responsibility for apparent damage to property; refer controversial cases to the General Foreperson.
  • Obtain oral or written permission from property owners to perform required work.
  • Promote and maintain good customer and public relations through effective completion of assigned work and appropriate behavior of employees on the crew.
  • Investigate incident reports, damage claims, etc., and settle minor damage claims.
  • Maintain accurate records, timesheets and reports related to crew performance.
  • Control crew costs, including effective use of people power, work methods, and equipment operation.
  • Report to General Foreperson and utility representative: orders completed, units of work completed, crew time, minor damage repairs, and distribution.
  • Provide periodic reports on incidents, truck breakdowns, private property damage, new employee follow‑up, etc.
  • Cooperate with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways.
  • Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers to protect employees and safeguard public.
  • Inspect and make or provide for necessary repairs to tools, truck, and other equipment.
  • Maintain good housekeeping on truck and work location.
  • Ensure DOT maintenance and inspection requirements on all required vehicles.
  • Keep informed regarding new equipment, specifications, standard practices, operating procedures, and customer/company policies. Request repair or replacement when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Understanding of drawings and symbols representing lines, voltages, line equipment, etc.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong organization skills, able to multi‑task.
  • Ability to adjust to field requirements and take independent action without close supervision.
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and capable of safely driving an approved company vehicle.
  • Hand‑use above head for extended periods; able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • No more than approximately 300 pounds in total body weight allowed.
  • No fear of heights.
Education & Experience
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
Pre‑Screen
  • Upon offer, employees may be required to pass a pre‑employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.
License & Certifications
  • Valid commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
Physical Requirements
  • Rare (less than 10%): crawling, climbing, gripping, lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional (up to 33%): standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, body‑twisting, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., reaching, climbing ladders, balancing.
  • Frequent (up to 66%): walking, sitting, climbing on/off truck, reading, lifting up to 10 lbs.
  • Continuous (up to 100%): speaking clearly, seeing distance, hearing, depth‑perception, color vision.
Safety

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must maintain eyesight to judge distance/coordination, and be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments.
