Job PurposeOur next Parent Support Specialist – Comprehensive Community Services will be responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and provision of parent support model and services to families involved in the Comprehensive Community Services program. The individual in this position will develop parent support material for Wellpoint, coordinate parent support programming and services, provide direct parent support to parents of children in the CCS Program, and train other staff in the parent support model and material.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, or other human service related field required.
- Master’s degree in social work, psychology, education, or other human service related field preferred.
- Two years post‑Master’s experience working with children, adolescents, and families preferred.
- Training in or willingness to be trained in trauma‑informed, relationship‑focused, evidence‑based family education material, i.e., TBRI.
- Ability to develop, implement, coordinate, and provide parent support and psychoeducation.
- Able and willing to train other staff in the identified material.
- A valid Wisconsin Driver’s License or occupational driver’s license, reliable transportation and insurance required. Reliable transportation to conduct on‑site learning throughout the state is required.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively understand and practice cultural humility and to communicate respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficient in the usage of computer software; understand computer file systems and databases, e.g., Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, Teams, ADP, etc.
- Physical exam, drug screen, motor vehicle report, and background checks are required for this position.
- Complete and maintain training as a “train the trainer” in the identified support and education model, i.e., TBRI.
- Lead development of parent support services and material.
- Provide training to other staff in the identified parent support model.
- Perform parenting assessments, including interviews and screens for new referrals using trauma‑informed and recovery‑oriented perspective.
- Develop, direct, and implement parenting support plans, interventions, skill training, and crisis management as applicable.
- Effectively link parents with community resources and support systems, as appropriate, including referral to other services and monitoring of involvement.
- Develop a network of community support and resources and connect parents with these resources as appropriate.
- Demonstrate relationship building and information sharing supporting a collaborative system of care.
- Establish and maintain working knowledge of the WCHSD programs, resources, and supports.
- Complete all necessary paperwork timely and utilize trauma‑informed, strength‑based language.
- Communicate effectively through verbal, non‑verbal, and written communications.
- Maintain client files in accordance with program policies and participate in quarterly review of files.
- Continuously seek to improve skills through training and demonstrate a high level of self‑direction.
- Attend all required trainings of the Agency.
- Actively participate in clinical consultation individually and team‑driven.
- Dependable with commitments and demonstrate follow‑through.
- Flexible in response to change and display willingness to take on new job responsibilities.
- Participate in assigned meetings, events, and learning as required.
- Other duties as assigned, including serving in a coverage role for other department members.
