Consultant, Haematologist, Doctor​/Physician

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Consultant to join our 7‑member Haematology team at Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust (SWBH) to deliver a full level 2b Haematology/Haemato‑oncology service, including research clinical trial participation, and regional Sickle Cell and Thalassemia (SCAT) service.

• Provide inpatient and outpatient haematology and haemato‑oncology care, including clinics at Sandwell and City Health Campus and ward cover at Montgomery‑Mount‑Brittany (MMUH).
• Deliver on‑call duties (1 in 7 rota) and cover inpatient service at MMUH as a non‑resident.
• Advise and support other professionals and primary‑care teams.
• Develop and maintain clinical governance systems, contribute to audit and incident reporting.
• Develop and update treatment guidelines and promote education within the service.
• Engage in clinical research, including existing national and commercial trials; develop personal research interests.

• Registered Consultant in Haematology with a strong interest in myeloid, lymphoid or plasma‑cell malignancies.
• Experience in haematology work‑force, including MDT collaboration and laboratory support.
• Demonstrated commitment to clinical governance and professional development.
• Experience in clinical research and an academic interest is highly desirable.

The post is a replacement position within a team of 7. On‑call is currently 1 in 7 with a Category A supplement (medium frequency, 3 % payable). The role may involve flexible working across the four partner Trusts of the Black Country Provider Collaborative.
