Science Teacher

Smile Education is proud to collaborate with the Shireland UTC Biomedical Academy to assist in recruiting a Science Teacher on a full-time and long-term basis starting September 2025.

As a Managed Service Provider for the Shireland Collegiate Trust, Smile Education partners with schools for both temporary and permanent recruitment. All roles are channelled through Smile, often before they are publicly advertised by the schools.

Shireland Biomedical UTC, part of the Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust, is among the first UTCs in the UK to specialise in healthcare and health sciences. The school emphasizes combining academic study with real-world projects, personal development, and career opportunities to prepare students for the workforce.

The school has recently partnered with Birmingham City University to offer students work experience and lectures from university experts, providing access to advanced training facilities and insights into higher education.

The school features a comprehensive Literacy for Life curriculum at Key Stage 3, which is thematic, competency-based, and rich in technology and experiential learning, laying a strong foundation for Key Stage
4. This project-based approach is ideal for adaptable teachers.

Applicants should have demonstrable experience with Key Stages 3 and 4, and possess a solid understanding of assessment and intervention strategies to promote equality of opportunity.

To be successful, you should have:

• A relevant teaching qualification with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Knowledge of the secondary curriculum
• Willingness and ability to travel to the West Bromwich area
