Position: School Caretaker (Temporary)
School Caretaker - West Bromwich & Great Barr

We are working on behalf of local schools in the West Bromwich and Great Barr areas to recruit experienced and reliable School Caretakers to support the day-to-day operation, safety and security of busy school sites.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and hands-on caretaker who is confident working independently and is able to take full responsibility for site management from day one.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out daily site checks to ensure the premises are safe, secure and ready for use

Opening and locking up the school buildings as required

General maintenance and minor repairs across the site

Monitoring health and safety standards and reporting any concerns

Supporting contractors on site and supervising works where required

Maintaining external areas, including basic grounds and litter management

Responding promptly to any site issues or emergencies during the school day

Ensuring compliance with school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Proven experience working as a School Caretaker or Site Supervisor within a school environment

A strong understanding of health and safety and site security procedures

The ability to carry out minor repairs and routine maintenance confidently

The ability to work independently, manage their own workload and prioritise tasks effectively

A professional, reliable and flexible approach to work

Excellent awareness of safeguarding responsibilities within a school setting

Important Information

These roles require experienced caretakers only - training will not be provided

Applicants must be able to start and perform the role immediately

An enhanced DBS on the Update Service is desirable, or a willingness to obtain one
