Do you have experience helping pupils overcome emotional, social, or behavioural barriers to learning? Are you patient, nurturing, and ready to make a genuine difference to young lives?

Teacher Active is proud to be working in partnership with a warm and supportive Secondary Provision in Cradley Heath. We are currently recruiting for a Learning Mentor to join their team and help create a safe, inclusive, and caring environment where pupils can flourish. The school places a strong emphasis on nurturing the whole child—emotionally, socially, and academically. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate and proactive individual to become a valued part of a dedicated pastoral team.

About

The Role

This is a short-term position with the potential to become long-term for the right candidate. You will work closely with pupils across all Key Stages, offering pastoral support in a range of areas, including:

  • Emotional regulation and wellbeing
  • Social skills and relationship-building
  • Confidence and communication
  • Behaviour support and de-escalation
  • Engagement in learning for pupils with a range of needs including:
    • ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)
    • SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs)
    • Challenging behaviours
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience working with children with SEND
  • Knowledge of SEMH needs and experience supporting pupils with emotional or behavioural difficulties
  • A Level 2 or 3 qualification in childcare, education, or a related field (desirable)
  • Team Teach or MAPA training (desirable, but not essential)
  • A warm, patient, and resilient approach
  • A genuine passion for pupil wellbeing and holistic development
