ABOUT
THE ROLE
Vortex Recruitment are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Manager to oversee the leadership and operational management of two Ofsted-registered children's residential homes in Birmingham/Handsworth, supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) and complex needs.
This is a senior leadership role requiring a confident, child-focused professional with strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding, staff development, and residential childcare legislation. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring both homes operate to the highest possible standards while creating safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environments for young people.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* • Hold Ofsted registration for two children's residential homes
* • Lead both homes in line with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
* • Provide strong leadership to Deputy Managers, Team Leaders, and Support Staff
* • Promote a trauma-informed, child-centred culture across both services
* • Ensure safeguarding procedures are consistently embedded in practice
* • Lead on Ofsted inspections, Regulation 44/45 processes, and quality assurance
* • Oversee staffing, rotas, recruitment, budgets, and placement management
* • Liaise with Local Authorities, Social Workers, Ofsted, families, and education providers
* • Participate in on-call responsibilities as required
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
* • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
* • Minimum 2 years' experience as a Registered Manager in children's residential care
* • Experience managing EBD / complex needs / challenging behaviours
* • Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding legislation
* • Full UK Driving Licence, Enhanced DBS, and Right to Work in the UK
Desirable:
Prior dual registration experience, Ofsted inspection experience, therapeutic/trauma-informed practice background.
