Job Title: SEN Learning Support Assistant (Grade

B)

Appointment: Permanent

Hours: 32 hours per week (Mon-Fri, 30 minutes lunch)

Salary: £19,017 per annum + £1,539 SEN allowance per annum (approximately £13.05 per hour; plus living wage supplement from 1st April 2026).

Grade: Band B, SCP 4

Closing Date: 30th August 2026

Staff are expected to work throughout the mainstream school supporting class teachers where required, including with SEN children. We wish to appoint an enthusiastic, passionate and motivated individual who loves working with young children, to enable them to thrive.

• Support classroom teachers throughout the day, including with SEN children.
• Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions; plan and deliver activities.
• Work closely with team members to support the set‑up of individual schedules and work systems.
• Assist pupils to work as independently as possible.
• Supervise students at designated lunch or break times as directed by the SENCo.
• Prepare and organise classroom resources, including adjusting classroom layout when needed.
• Contribute to discussion of individual targets during reviews.
• Lead small group activities within a class, as directed by the teacher, to support students.

• In‑depth knowledge of child development.
• Previous experience of working with young children in an educational setting.
• Well motivated and able to bring new ideas to enrich the lives of young children.
• Effective communication with parents and stakeholders.
• Understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding.

• Enhanced DBS and additional safeguarding checks required.
• Applicant must be fluent in English (as per Part 7 of the Immigration Act). Shortlisted candidates will need to complete a self‑declaration and disclosure form.
• This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
• Pre‑employment checks carried out in line with KCSIE.
